Fuck Yea[h] NBA

aperfectlittlesecret asked: You're not the only one that cringes any time OKC is mentioned. I'm a Sonics fan living in Seattle, and I appreciate you being on our side very much.

I feel so bad for all of you Sonics fans. Everyone forgets about what happened in 2006-2007 as OKC continues to win. Wins that YOU should be celebrating (not to discount Oklahoma City fans—but Bennett gave you a “hot” team—and by “hot” I mean illegally obtained). It’s such a fuckin’ shame all around.

Sonics fans always stood by their teams—even when they were horrible (which wasn’t often)—and Clay and Stern stole that franchise from you, plain and simple.

When Clay Bennett bought the team in 2006, he had no intention of actually building a new stadium, or renovating Key Arena (which had already been renovated in 1995) or finding a new place to play in Seattle. I’m not crazy to think Stern was complicit in that swindle after the Hornets sold games out during the Katrina aftermath. He wanted the now tested OKC market, and Bennett delivered.

Hopefully, Stern rectifies the mistake and gives you the Kings or Timberwolves or a new team. But, the damage is done, and now one of the best players of his generation will be leading YOUR team far into the playoffs for the next decade.

I wish I could offer you more condolences. But I can’t. The whole thing stinks. But, I don’t think you should take sides against OKC fans, who didn’t force Bennett or Stern to trick you. It’s the Thunder owner and the league that should feel your wrath, but like we saw in the lockout, these guys are ill-equipped to care about how you feel as fans or as a city.

This post just depressed the shit out of me. I’m sorry. That’s all.
