Fuck Yea[h] NBA

The Clippers win over the Golden State Warriors 105-86 in front of a rowdy Oakland crowd at the ORACLE Arena was anticlimactic after all the Lob City references and anticipation. My old man even stayed up, and he loves sleeping, but a classic west coast scoring fest turned into an ugly game better left with the preseason detritus.

We got to watch Chauncey Billups repeatedly take and miss 3-pointers during the second quarter, the Warriors and “trying to prove how smart he is” coach Mark Jackson deliberately fouling DeAndre Jordan to try and get back into the game in the 3rd quarter and Stephen Curry hobbled by a tweaked high-ankle sprain unable to bring his sweet passing and shooting to the game. In Curry’s steed, Monta Ellis took 19 shots while making only 6 of them (the exact shooting numbers for Chauncey Billups coincidentally). It was a game of boredom and lackluster defensive intensity in transition. It also featured “Brick City,” with the LAC shooting 45% and the GSW a measly 39%.

With a little under 4 minutes remaining and the Warriors hanging around, Chris Paul took, and made, three straight jumpers and put the game away. My old man turned to me and we both smiled. Now he’s headed to bed.
