Fuck Yea[h] NBA
A few more links for you NBA heads. Damn, this exciting season must be a nice respite for President Obama.
- Josh Robbins reports Orlando Magic coach Stan Van Gundy will be “less demonstrative” on the sidelines this season. D-12 conspiracy theorists will claim this move is at the behest of franchise cornerstone, Dwight Howard. [Orlando Sentinel]
- John McMullen of the Sport Network claims Russell Westbrook is standing in the way of the Oklahoma City Thunder winning a championship. Oh, because I thought Westbrook was an integral part of their team? My bad. [Miami Herald]
- Michael Rand on Russell Westbrook’s craziness, but also why trading him, like a lot of people are saying they should do (see above), is even crazier. Bravo! [Star-Tribune]
- Rickey Davis is making his NBDL debut in Canton, OH and the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports he only regrets one thing from his strange career. That triple-double some of you may remember where he deliberately threw the ball at his own basket so he could collect the triple-double. [Cleveland Plain Dealer]
- Mike Vaccaro on the New York Knicks and the panic among the fans after two consecutive losses with two tough 4th quarters. [New York Post]
- LeBron James is shooting less 3-pointers this season, reports Ira Winderman, which is a good thing for Miami fans and a horrible thing for everyone else. It’s tough when you can’t count on him staying behind the arc and wasting 4 shots a game when he only connects on 1 of them. In Minnesota tonight for the Heat, so we’ll see what Rubio can do against that defense. [Sun-Sentinel]
- Peter Vecsey starts the annual, and this year’s expectations mean its been augmented, critique of Knicks head coach Mike D’Antoni. Phil Jackson is laughing maniacally somewhere with his peyote, and watching all the MSG footage in preparation for next year. For the record, I sorta Vecsey is right. [New York Post]
- Rick Carlisle thinks Mark Cuban was smart to change their title team. ‘“Our owner did the right thing breaking up the team—for the franchise,’” [Dallas Morning News]
