Fuck Yea[h] NBA

Kendrick Perkins didn’t take too kindly to LeBron James’ tweet after Blake Griffin posterized Perkins. Via Marc J. Spears at Yahoo! Sports:

“Shortly after the dunk, James tweeted, ‘Dunk of the Year! @blakegriffin just dunked on Kendrick Perkins so hard!!! Wow! I guess I’m No. 2 now. Move over #6.’ James was referring to his alley-oop dunk he threw down after jumping over Chicago Bulls guard John Lucas III a day earlier.
‘You don’t see Kobe [Bryant] tweeting,’ Perkins said. ‘You don’t see Michael Jordan tweeting. If you’re an elite player, plays like that don’t excite you. At the end of the day, the guys who are playing for the right reasons who are trying to win championships are not worrying about one play.’”

This is true, but MJ and Kobe came up in a league without Twitter. I know that’s crazy for a lot of Tweeters to understand (and seriously, all of the bloggers out there are on Twitter more than I’m on my girlfriend—and it’s strange to think they’re paying more attention to their timeline than they are to the game). Twitter rants aside, Perkins has a point.
LeBron isn’t like Perkins. Perkins is a warrior whose menacing face during games is a form of intimidation. LeBron just wants to entertain, and also wants people to like him. Perkins doesn’t give a fuck if people like him.
Only one of them has a title, and I’m  sure the demeanor of the two players is NOT mutually exclusive to the titles either.
Warriors win titles. Showmen entertain.
