DeMarcus Cousins and James Harden play around last summer. Via SI Vault.
Some quick links from this afternoon because there was a lot of fun stuff to read.
- Rob Mahoney lets people in on a little secret: DeMarcus Cousins is playing really well this year for Sacramento. [New York Times]
- Rick Telander with a paean to Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau who has finally succeeded in making the Bulls relevant again after Phil, MJ and Scottie left. [Chicago Sun Times]
- Ian Thomsen looks at LaMarcus Aldrige. He should get an all-star nod for the Western Conference, but Thomsen says he still has a lot to learn [Sports Illustrated]
- Chauncey Billups went down last night with a season-ending Achilles tear. The Clippers needed him more than you think, and Zach Lowe explains why there’s an even smaller margin for error with the West’s new “it” team. [The Point Forward]
- Lee Jenkins writes about Amar’e Stoudemire’s return to his hometown in Florida amidst the Knicks’ lackluster season so far. If you’ve never read anything about Stoudemire’s tough upbringing, I suggest you check this out, and google for more.[Sports Illustrated]
- Howard Beck continues to assault Knicks fans with Jeremy Lin news and opinion. I get it, we’re all happy he’s playing so well, but again, I have to wait and see before jumping on the Lin Train. [New York Times]
- Ken Berger offers up a nice statement on today’s sloppy NBA play: hey, at least it isn’t college! Kinda regressive stance, but I tend to agree. Also, read David Roth’s piece on Bill Rafferty, then check out Berger’s assessment. I don’t watch much college basketball (‘cept for ‘Cuse), and both writers do a good job explaining why the college game both works and doesn’t for some sports fans. [CBS Sports; The Classical]
- Listen to Marc Stein talk about Dirk (and his comments about not wanting to be an all-star), Jason Kidd’s absense, and more Mavericks news (Roddy B will be dissected). [ESPN Radio]
- Eric Mouran writes a beautiful piece about why we watch sports. [Hardwood Paroxysm]
