Fuck Yea[h] NBA

Knicks Notes, a great Knicks blog and definitely a site you should follow if you’re into basketball, has written something about New York’s match-up with Minnesota tonight that I have to mention,

“Enter the Humble Harvard Hero, Jeremy Lin. I wanted Rubio to run this team, well… we ended up with something better.”

NO. No, we did not. That is simply wrong. Ricky Rubio could possibly be the best point guard in the league in 3 years. He’s that good, and that rare: a pass-first point guard from Spain with a mop-top, a prepubescent countenance, and a game that’s part artistry, part enthusiasm and rightfully called: genius. Rubio possesses the most flamboyant and exciting style of play since the ‘77 Trail Blazers were running teams off the court with Dr. Jack Ramsay and pre-injury Walton.
I love Jeremy Lin. Hell, I’ve been writng about him every other post for the last week, but regardless of his miraculous 192 minutes of basketball over the last week, he’s still not Ricky Rubio; not even close.
I was worried after the first and second games of Linsanity that this was going to happen (I even waited until his third game to jump on the bandwagon). On the periphery of my excitement after his big game against the Lakers, there was the fear of the fan’s reactions—or more likely: overreactions. Knick fans—still parched for a point after watching Ray Felton, Chris Duhon, Toney Douglas, Chauncey Billups and Mike Bibby squander D’Antoni’s wide-open style—would see Jeremy Lin as a mirage of an all-star point, and act recklessly with their words.
Can Jeremy Lin be a part of this team on a nightly basis? Of course, but once Baron, Melo and Stoudemire come back, things will change. Right now, enjoy the match-up against Rubio tonight, but remember Jeremy Lin is not better than Ricky Rubio. Not by a long-shot. He could be a very good back-up point guard in this league, or a good offensive 6th man. He is not Ricky Rubio.
The Knicks still need a point guard. It’s been 4 games. Lets try and keep it in our pants before we mess the whole Lin excitment up with bad juju; you know, like the kind you inspire when you claim Ricky Rubio isn’t as good as Jeremy Lin.
