No road teams won last night. The Cavaliers were down 17 at home, but they rallied behind Antawn Jamison and Kyrie Irving to squeek out the win; Roy Hibbert’s 30 points led the Pacers over the Hornets in OT; Dwyane Wade dropped 30 points along with 10 assists as the Heat continue to look unbeatable right now; Marc Gasol led the Grizzlies in points/rebounds/assists as the Grizzlies won an ugly game when faltering Philly came to town; the Blazers destroyed the Spurs at home by 40, and ended their 11 game winning streak as Tim Duncan sat on the sidelines (you can be sure Popovich is cursing them out as we speak).

Scores from last night:
Derrick Rose returned to the Bulls lineup and scored 23 points when Atlanta came to town; Melo returned, but Lin fouls out and the Knicks lose at home to the woeful, cross-town Nets in MSG after a Deron Williams record night behind the 3-point line; Dirk led the Mavericks over the Celtics in Dallas (are people still bitching about Dirk’s inclusion in the all-star game this weekend?); Kyle Lowry led the Rockets over the Grizzlies in Houston for the tight win (the Griz are always in hotly-contested battles); the Orlando Magic have the Milwaukee Bucks’ number, beating them for the 3rd time in 10 days; The OKC Thunder continue to win at home behind the offensive output of Durant and Westbrook; Martell Webster’s brain fart in the closing seconds of OT gave the Nuggets the win at home over Minnesota (possibly karmic retribution for that Sixers game on Sunday); Marcin Gortat and Steve Nash led the Suns to their 10th straight win over the Wizards (how many other teams have streaks like that against Washington?); A short-handed Spurs squad won their 11th straight in Utah; the Warriors beat the visiting Clippers in the Bay; and the Lakers jumped out to a fast start—they led 29-7 after the first quarter—to get the win over the visiting Blazers.

Happy President’s Day! While I was getting my Lin on with a hastily thrown together live-blog (didn’t have many readers), Kevin Durant dropped a career high, along with 40 from Westbrook and a triple-double from Serge Ibaka to get the win at home in OT against Denver; the Celtics got blown out in Detroit; Miami took care of business at home; Cleveland won a tight one when DeMarcus Cousins was in town; the Bobcats returned to earth in Indiana; Houston continued to be a factor in the Western Conference after a victory over the visiting Jazz; the referees won a game for Minnesota when Philly came to town and Kevin Love got a superstar call as the clock wound down; Milwaukee was the only team to win on the road yesterday when they went into Newark and beat the Nets (Brooklyn can’t wait guys!); and Phoenix defeated the Lakers at home. All in all, it was a fun Sunday watching bball with my old man.

Well, look who showed up for Indiana and helped them towards a victory like it was 2009 again; people keep saying Luol Deng is a problem, and Chicago should make a move to shore up their line-up, but he and Noah are playing pretty well during Rose’s absence due to back spasms; you’d think Western Conference basketball featuring two exciting teams would produce some points, but that wasn’t the case last night as LA and Portland played an ugly ugly game on TNT.

When the Orlando Magic hit their 3’s, like last night when Philly came to town, they’re very tough to beat; The Spurs won their 9th game in a row in Canada; the Pistons surprised a lethargic Celtics squad in Boston; Kyrie Irving led the Cavs to victory when Indiana came to town; Memphis’ Rudy Gay and “Trick or Treat” Tony Allen led Memphis to a win in Newark over the Nets (remarked a friend from Jersey last night: “It’s messed up they’re already wearing New York on their jerseys. Let ‘em wait until this summer for Brooklyn jerseys.) Jeremy Lin had a career high in assists (more on this later—obviously), and most of the Knicks starters got to take the 4th quarter off; The Thunder started slow against Houston (only 13 points in the first quarter), and didn’t have enough to come back for the victory; New Orleans went into Milwaukee and beat the Bucks; Minnesota snapped a 4-game losing streak when Charlotte came to town (Love was incredible as always) and the Bobcats have lost 16 straight; Dallas’ hot shooting made their victory over Denver easy; Atlanta’s Josh Smith scored 30, had 17 boards and dished 7 assists as the Hawks squeezed out a win in Phoenix; the Trail Blazers came back from an early deficit to secure a close win the Bay area; Blake Griffin bounced back from a bad night against Dallas to help the Clippers defeat the lowly Wizards.

Chris Andersen Photo Wednesday! Andersen came off the bench for Denver and had 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 blocks in their victory over Phoenix.
LeBron had another all-around game as the Heat won their third straight on the road during a back to back to back culminating in Indiana last night; Linsanity continued, in Toronto this time, as the Knicks win their 6th straight; an OG battle broke out momentarily as Ben Wallace did battle with Tim Duncan; Chicago continues to win despite Derrick Rose’s back problems and DeMarcus Cousins’ unheralded dominance on the low-block; James Harden ran the Jazz off the OKC floor; Memphis capitalized on Houston’s sloppy play; the Nuggets caught a break at home when Phoenix’s Steve Nash and Grant Hill sat out the game; Nick Young continues to drop 3’s like they’re free throws, as Washington got a big win in Portland; the Lakers won an ugly game at home they needed—thanks largely to Pau’s offense late in the game.

A second half run gave the Magic an easy win over the ‘Wolves; the Sixers beat the Bobcats in what had to be the most boring game of the year (or at least in the top 5 most boring); Chris Kaman started for the NOR Hornets and led them to a victory over Utah with 27 points and 13 rebounds; LeBron keeps dropping big games with absolutely no DAP as the Heat (finally) beat the Bucks, and in Milwaukee to boot; Los Angeles lost to Dallas thanks largely to Blake Griffin’s free throw woes and some timely baskets from Dirk (ppl that say he shouldn’t have been selected to the all-star team, need to check themselves); And David Lee out-battled Marcin Gortat on a night when everyone wanted to see Stephen Curry and Steve Nash.

The weekend came and went with a lot of action and no competing sports. Saturday saw 7 road teams win, and Dallas was the only home victor on the day. Dirk made everyone who said he shouldn’t have been an all-star, uncomfortable, by hitting a big shot at the end of the second overtime with Portland; Jeremy Lin shot 33% (7/12 in the first half and 1/12 in the second) from the field against Minnesota, but hit the game-winning free throw with a couple seconds left, and the Knicks got their 5th straight “Lin.” I’ll address my Lin/Rubio post later. The San Antonio Spurs wore Chaps; Boston beat a Chicago team without Derrick Rose, so of course Rondo exploded for a triple-double; LA eeked out a win in Toronto with Kobe hitting the game winner from the corner; The Washington Professional basketball team got to beat up on the Pistons (good for them!); Miami served notice that Atlanta is not a legitimate threat—winning on the road by 20 over Josh Smith and Co.; Denver won the battle with Indiana for suprise team without a superstar; And Steve Nash continues to assault our definition of “old.” It was a good weekend even in the midst of the post-Super Bowl sports malaise.

Well well well, a lot of action last night during 12 games. Obviously the LinSanity was in full effect, but CP3 hit a game-winning fadeaway from the lane to give the Clippers the win in Philly (see video). A bunch of home teams lost including Orlando, Utah and Minnesota as well as some bottom-dwellers; Cleveland lost Varejao, and a game in overtime to Milwaukee, but Milwaukee fans should be happy to know Brandon Jennings has bounced back after his omission from the all-star team; Greg Monroe led Detroit to their 4th straight win over Deron Williams and New Jersey. The Rose-less Bulls still blew out Charlotte due to a big night from Joakim (will he be in some trade rumors now that his play has improved?); The Hornets lost their 8th straight game when Portland came to town; a rejuvenated Nowitzki led the Mavericks over the Wolves and everyone from the defending champions got to speak Spanglish with JJ Barea; Westbrook dropped 28 as OKC beat Utah in Utah; And Rudy Gay had a big night as Memphis beat Indiana—even though it’s a good sign that David West is putting up 20 and 10 again; Wade and the Heat continued to roll against the Washington Professional Basketball Team; DeMar DeRozen led a surprising Toronto Raptors team over Boston in Canada.
